Your Colon And Fiber
Many studies have been shown that diets low in saturated fat and cholesterol and high in fiber are related with a reduced risk of certain cancers, diabetes, digestive disorders, and heart disease.
Fiber is an indigestible carbohydrate which adds bulk to the stool and helps to move waste through the large intestine. Therefore, it cannot be broken down or absorbed by the body.
What is considered “High Fiber?”
A high fiber product or food item is one which contains approximately more than 5g of fiber per serving, with a suggested in take of 20- 35g of dietary fiber per day.
Soluble and Insoluble Fiber
Soluble Fiber. Dissolves in water; traps carbohydrates to slow digestion and absorption – helping to balance blood sugar levels throughout the day; binds to dietary cholesterol, helping the body eliminate it.
Insoluble Fiber. Does not dissolve in water; adds bulk to stool, speeding transit time (length of time food passes through the intestines and out of the body); alleviates constipation and/or diarrhea, abdominal pain, flatulence and mucus or blood in the stool; controls and balances PH (acidity) in intestines.
Food Sources
Whole wheat, oat/oat bran, corn bran, brown rice, flaxseed, vegetables, green beans, dried beans and peas, nuts and seeds, barley, cauliflowers, potato skins, root vegetable skins, dried fruits (apricots, dates, prunes raisins) oranges, apples, carrots, psyllium husk.
Note: IBS patients and those with other digestive disorders should follow a strict diet, as some foods may aggravate their condition. Please refer to your blood type and/or low allergen diet regime.
Your Biological Terrain
The cellular level is where we must all begin our physical healing. The conditions, general health, and activity level of our cells are effectively assessed through Biological Terrain Assessment which is how Dr. Dodd and Dr. Balajewicz detect imbalances before a particular condition may become too serious that more invasive procedures turn out to be necessary and unavoidable.
Visits
It is crucial to follow the protocol in which you were given to obtain and maintain homeostasis (balance) within the body. Remember – your progress depends on how effectively you follow your diet, supplemental medication, and treatment.
Once appointments are missed, the healing process is then prolonged, which in turn may constitute to unwanted symptoms arising once again.
Your health is not an expense, but a lifelong investment of time, patience, commitment and personal responsibility.
He who is blessed with life, must protect his health.
Thank you for your continued effort and determination for optimal health, and we encourage you to be an example to others as you go through your essential healing process.
