Qualifications and Regulations of Naturopathic Doctors

To be considered for admission in Ontario, a minimum of three years towards a baccalaureate degree as well as specific prerequisite courses are required. Upon completion, a four year full-time program must be fulfilled at an accredited college of naturopathic medicine. Once the program is completed, Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations need to be passed to qualify.

The 1925 Drugless Therapy Act is what Naturopathic Doctors are regulated under in Ontario. This is licensed under the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy-Naturopathy functioned to ensure naturopathic doctors are properly qualified and follow the appropriate standards of practice.

Richard Dodd BSc., ND

Dr Dodd The Natural PathDr. Dodd graduated with an honors degree in Human Biology and Biomedical Sciences from the University of Guelph in 1988. He then completed four years at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and received a diploma as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine in 1993. He has been in private practice for over 14 years operating The Natural Path Alternative Health Care Centre.

Dr. Dodd was a previous Vice President of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors from 1998-1999 and past President of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors from 1998-2001. He was also a member of clinical faculty at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine from 1999-2001.

In his practice, Dr Dodd utilizes Homeopathy, Botanical (herbal) Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, Lifestyle Counseling, Acupuncture, and Intravenous Therapies. Dr Dodd’s practice is family-based, including treatment of conditions such as Allergies, Arthritis, Cardiovascular disease, Diabetes, and Gastrointestinal conditions. Dr Dodd’s special area of expertise and passion is Cancer prevention and treatment.

Dr Dodd also presents free corporate (Lunch & Learn) and community health and wellness seminars as part of our Wellness Outreach Program.

Margaret Balajewicz BSc., ND

Margaret Balajewicz (pronounced as ‘bawayevich’), graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and she is a registered practitioner through the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy – Naturopathy. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree form York University where she majored in psychology.

Margaret uses different treatment modalities in her practice such as: Asian Medicine/Acupuncture, Botanical (Herbal) Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, Homeopathy and Physical Medicine (A variety of hands-on techniques for the spine, joints and soft tissues). Margaret has worked with Chiropractors and Massage therapists utilizing Physical Medicine techniques. She is also a trained birth assistant (Doula), Bowen therapist and in her daily practice she has a special interest in Acupuncture. As a primary health care provider, Margaret has experience treating a wide spectrum of diseases and in addition she has a special interest in Women’s health issues and prenatal health care.

Melaika Agbeko BSc., ND

Melaika Agbeko graduated from the University of Alberta in 2003, earning a B.Sc., with a major in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry.  She received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine Diploma from The Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto in 2007 and is registered through BDDT-Naturopathy.  She is a member of The Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors.

In her practise, Melaika uses several modalities in assessing and treating a wide range of conditions, including Acupunture, Botanical Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, Homeopath and   Lifestyle Counseling.  She has received training using Biotherapeutic Drainage with UNDA Numbered compounds through Seroyal and has a general interest in the field of German Biological Medicine.  Although Melaika treats a variety of conditions in her practice, such as Allergies, Women’s and Children’s health, she has a special interest in preventing and treating Cancer.
